Carrina completed matric in 2011, she then furthered her studies in Civil Engineering. She completed her Civil Engineering studies with a Diploma in 2014. Carrina continued with her in service with Group Five Construction and moved to complete her in service with Basil Read Construction. Basil Read took her on as intern, she was then retrenched 2018.
She became ill subsequently, with all the treatment over a three-year period no conclusive diagnosis was given until she lost her eyesight. The loss of her eyesight was because of a brain tumor. She underwent surgical procedures. During treatment, she succumbed to a stroke on her left side. Due this,Carina her mobility has suffered, ie she needs assistance to move freely.
Despite the tumor growing again, Carrina is a positive young female with a drive to get her independence back. She continues to rebuild her life and career despite this major setback of being blind. The KwaZulu Natal Blind and Society has assisted her with studies in braille, and she wishes to continue studying computers as a blind individual, at the KwaZulu Natal Blind and Deaf Society , Computer Training Centre.
Through get serious setbacks, she thankful to God for giving a new lease on life. She is grateful to God for his hand on her life and for all the support from family, friends and others.
Carrina’s passion to inspire others to never give because failure is not an option but a learning experience. She lives by the motto of Faith, Love and Hope.
